Get In Line, Leonard ...Padilla Files Lawsuit Against Casey Anthony And Jose Baez
Today, bounty hunter Leonard Padilla announced he will be filing a lawsuit against Casey Anthony and Jose Baez to the tune of $200,000. Padilla wants compensation for money spent searching for Caylee, and expenses incurred for security guards, travel, and private detectives.
Padilla has declared that Casey and Baez knew that Caylee was dead. Padilla also states that he believed Casey when she said Caylee had been kidnapped.
Prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick has also filed a motion against Casey, seeking to recoup the costs of the prosecution, as well as the cost of Casey's investigation by police.
Zenaida Gonzales and Tim Miller have already filed lawsuits against Anthony.

A Sociopath In The Family

The system worked. The system didn't work. The jurors were boneheads. The jurors were doing their jobs. The prosecution team was brilliant. The jurors were turned off by Jeff Ashton's laughter at Baez's closing arguments. Jose Baez is a Bozo. Jose Baez is the man of the moment, hailed as "Juani Cochran" by those making comparisons to the O.J. trial. Nancy Grace was responsible for the "Not Guilty" verdict because of her extensive coverage of Caylee Anthony. Nancy Grace is a saint for championing missing children. Did George Anthony molest Casey Anthony? Is Cindy Anthony writing a book? Lee Anthony is just plain weird. Is Casey going to get rich after she's released from jail? Let's pass Caylee's law. No, let's not pass Caylee's Law. God will ultimately judge Casey. God would have never allowed Caylee to die. Casey Anthony will be a pariah when she's released. Hell, no, she's hot! Casey was an amazing mother. What mother would not report her daughter's disappearance?
Pick your opinion from the list above, or add your own - have I missed one? About the only thing everyone agrees on is that Casey is a liar. Even the simpletons who acquitted Casey couldn't overlook her lies.
With Casey Anthony, lying was elevated to an art form. The length, breadth, depth, and detail of her lying was mind-boggling. Heck, she lied when no lie was necessary. But why?
Because Casey Anthony is a narcissistic sociopath. A sociopath, according to the dictionary definition, is "a person, as a psychopathic personality, whose behavior is antisocial, and who lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience." No need to define narcissistic - anyone who watched the trial and observed Casey's incessent preening saw narcissism in action.
Living with the aftermath of the damage a sociopath can wreak is akin to a sentence of life without parole. Whether you like or dislike the words and actions of George, Cindy, and Lee Anthony, their lives have been destroyed by the lies sociopathic daughter and sister.
Were they enablers? Were they dysfunctional? Yes, of course they were. But my theory is that the family dynamic was not always so appalling. At one point, the Anthonys, more then likely, WERE a fairly normal family.
Understand, I am not making excuses for the Anthonys. It's obvious that staring down a cobra would be a more attractive option then scrapping with Cindy Anthony - one has only to look at Cindy in her deposition tapes. Certainly Cindy loves the limelight as much as her daughter, and Cindy also has issues with telling the truth.
But a sociopath in the family is like the slow spread of a deadly cancer. Casey the sociopath was the cancer in the Anthony family. Over the years, the Anthonys were debilitated by dealing with Casey's lies.
Casey sentenced her family to a life without parole when she killed Caylee. Her rage toward her family increased when they demanded of her the one thing that a sociopath feels they never have to do - account for their actions. When her mother demanded truth and accountabilty from Casey for Casey's stealing, she retailated by taking away the one thing her family cherished - Caylee.
Clearly Casey dismissed any thought of Caylee the moment she tossed Caylee's body in the woods. Casey's arrogance and narcissism allowed her to think she would be able to handily manage the requisite web of lies necessary to explain Caylee away.
Jose Baez was the mouthpiece in the courtroom when Casey fired off her biggest round of lies yet. Not content with the damage she had done to her family in killing Caylee, she "killed" her family with accusations of sexual abuse.
Cindy (until she perjured herself on the stand), the law enforcement officers, and the legal system tried to hold Casey accountable for her lies. Unfortunately, sociopaths can be charming. The jurors were charmed by Casey Anthony's lies, as Jose Baez repeated them.
So, Casey was rewarded by the jurors with a get-out-of-jail card. Justice, as many felt it should be meted out, didn't happen when Casey was found not guilty.
Yes, sadly, there may be media outlets that will want to pay Casey for an exclusive interview. There will be questionable characters and unsavory hangers-on that will bask in the tawdry glow of Casey's temporary fame and fortune. Because, in time, Casey Anthony will not have the fame and fortune she no doubt feels she deserves.
Casey remains a sociopath, and, therefore, a ticking time bomb. Her true justice may only come when the spotlight fades and she is left alone with only her lies to protect her from a world that considers her a pariah.

Casey Anthony in Jail Till July 13

UPDATE - The numbers have been calculated. Casey Anthony will be released from jail on Wednesday, July 13, 2011.
The smile on Casey Anthony's face faded quickly today, when she realized she was not going to stroll out of the Orange County courthouse this afternoon.
Dressed in lavender (Caylee's favorite color; a nice, hypocritical touch), and sporting her semi-Snooki hair pouf, Casey settled in her usual courtroom seat. She proceeded to engage her defense team in giggly chat, as she fiddled incessantly with her ratty locks.
Hizzoner Belvin Perry shot down the defense's attempt to have the four counts of lying to law enforcement dismissed, and quickly sentenced Casey to one year in prison for each of the charges.
Perry also acknowledged he will give Casey credit for time already served. As inmates also accrue time for "good behavior", Perry will sit down with Casey's defense team later today, and tally up the numbers.
A rough estimate of the numbers: Casey will probably be out of jail in early August.
Casey's First Job Offer Now Gone

Early yesterday, Steve Hirsch, from Vivid Entertainment, reached out to Casey Anthony's attorneys with a job offer. Steve offered Casey a starring role in a porn flick.
It made sense to Steve - hell, we've all seen Casey's party pictures. She'd have been a natural. And you really can't list "stealing checks from family and friends" on a resume when seeking gainful employment.
Turns out, even porn moguls are feeling the effects of the backlash of Casey's "not guilty" verdict. Last night, Mr. Hirsch rescinded his offer.
In a statement, Steve said, "We were ready to make an offer to Casey to star in one of our feature films. It's clear to me now, however, that there has been an overwhelmingly negative response to our offer, and so we've decided to withdraw it. We now believe that we underestimated the emotional response that people are having to the verdict. A movie starring Casey Anthony is not want people want to see."
Juror 3 - Jennifer Ford - Jenny Does Disney

Juror 3 has surfaced. Jennifer Ford, a 32-year-old nursing student, has talked to ABC News about the jury's stunning verdict in the Casey Anthony trial.
Jennifer's mother, Lynn Ford, said her daughter was not paid for the interview, but said that Jennifer and four others were treated to a trip to Disney World.
FYI - The Walt Disney Co. owns the ABC Network.
Food for Thought - Jennifer and company will probably spend more time at Disney, then the amount of time jurors spent deliberating their verdict in the Casey Anthony trial.
Jennifer would probably disagree. She claims jurors were "sick to their stomachs" over their decision to acquit Casey. Sick to her stomach? Then don't get on that teacup ride at Disney, sister.
More Gems From Jenny - "I did not say she was innocent. I just said there was not enough evidence. If you cannot prove what the crime was, you cannot determine what the punishment should be."
Let me dumb-down a few salient points for you, Jennifer, to assist you. You have a narcissistic sociopath mother, Casey Anthony. Remember her? That was what's called the defendant. You have her daughter, Caylee. Caylee was the little girl that was murdered. Do you remember seeing those horrible pictures of those tiny bones with the duct tape wrapped about the skull? That was Caylee's body.
Okay, now let's go over this - Caylee was last seen with Casey. Caylee disappears. Casey doesn't report Caylee missing. Casey sleeps with men, enters Hot Body contests, dances the night away in clubs, and gets a tattoo. After 31 days, Casey's mother, Cindy, calls the police, because Casey claims Caylee was kidnapped by a nanny named Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez.
You will probably understand this part a little easier, since you understand about magical places and people - that's what Disney's all about. Just like Tinkerbell, and Goofy, and Pluto, and Donald Duck, and Mickey Mouse - Zenaida wasn't real. So that creates what we call a PROBLEM. Because if there is no Zenaida, then where did Caylee go?
Okay, now stay with me, because this may be hard for you to understand. Casey never reported Caylee missing. Her mother did. Casey lies to her family and investigators. Casey goes to jail. Try to remember, Caylee was eventually found dead, her head wrapped in duct tape that came from the house Casey last lived in. Caylee was also stuffed inside a laundry bag that came from the house Casey last lived in.
Hang on to your souvenier mouse ears, Jenny, because there's more going on here that you apparently were unable to grasp. You were chosen for jury duty. Your job, during those six weeks, was to see and listen to the evidence that was presented, and to render a verdict, based on the evidence. Not to decide how Casey was going to be punished, as you stated in your interview. Punishment, at the time you went in to deliberate, was NOT to be considered.
After you and your fellow jurors rendered your incomprehensible verdict, you say, "We were crying, and not just the women."
You say that you and your fellow jurors didn't want to speak to the media right after the trial, because, "It was emotional and we weren't ready. We wanted to do it with integrity, and not contribute to the sensationalism of the trial."
The dictionary definition of integrity means "a firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values: incorruptability."
So, less the 24 hours after returning to Pinellas County, how was YOUR integrity maintained, Jennifer? By accepting a free trip to Disney World, in exchange for an interview.
Geez, even Judas was smarter. He got 30 pieces of silver for one kiss.

Juror 6 Hires A Publicist

TMZ is reporting this afternoon that one of the 12 jurors in the Casey Anthony trial has hired a publicist, Rick French.
The juror is described as a 33-year-old married male with two young children (Juror 6). According to a letter sent by the publicist, the juror "is willing to consider granting one or more media interviews so long as the opportunities are paid."
French continues with, "He will not entertain any offers that don't include compensation for a myriad of reasons."
According to TMZ, their sources tell them that the high offers thus far are in the "mid 5-figures".
Surprise, surprise.
Russel Huekler - Your 15 Minutes Are Up

While the 12 simpletons that voted to acquit Casey Anthony yesterday remain (mercifully) mute, alternate juror Russell Huekler has wasted no time making the media rounds.
Today we have gleaned an insight into the mental void of the 12 jurors and the 5 alternates, thanks to Russell. The jurors liked Jose Baez. They thought Casey Anthony was a good mother. They thought George Anthony had something to hide. They thought Caylee's death was an accident, and that the aftermath of Caylee's death spun out of control.
The jurors were apparently blissfully untroubled by a mother failing to report her child missing for 31 days. The jailhouse tapes, showing Casey in all her narcissistic, sociopathic glory, repeating lie after lie after lie? The fact Casey led investigators to Universal Studios, home of the nonexistent job, and then proceeded to be captured on tape continuing to lie? Well, the jurors couldn't wiggle out of that evidence, so they were at least bright enough to find her guilty on those charges.
From Russell's comments, it appears that the jurors bought Jose's opening statements, hook, line, and sinker, then checked out mentally for the next six weeks. Russel denies this, saying the jury paid attention to the evidence presented.
I stand by my earlier assessment that the jurors hit the deliberation room with one goal in mind - to get the hell out of Orange County as quickly as they could. They didn't want to be there. I would imagine that they spent at most a half hour discussing the case on Monday evening, and sat around twiddling their thumbs for a bit on Tuesday, then announced they'd reached a verdict.
Poor Russell definitely drank the Casey Kool-Aid - he sounds a bit smitten with her when he talks about her. That matter of a dead child was as inconsequential to him as it was to Casey. The most he can offer? He thinks Casey "needs help".
Russell probably spent the better part of the last six weeks thinking about the extra money he'd make from media appearances once this trial was over. And, less then 24 hours after the verdict was read in this case, many are sick of the sight of him.
Russell, your 15 minutes are up.
Farewell, Jeff Ashton

My Boyfriend Bill

With advance apologies to Mrs. Sheaffer, for referring to her hubby as my boyfriend. I am no River Cruz.
Bill Sheaffer has been THE man to listen to for his assessment of the Casey Anthony trial.
My addiction/obsession with this trial runs long and deep. Short-term explanation: I have an ex-in-law who could be Casey Anthony's twin - just as evil, just as sociopathic. Luckily, murder wasn't part of the scenario. But the destruction wreaked by a sociopath is staggering to those left to pick up the pieces of their lives in the aftermath of the damage caused.
But back to my boyfriend, Bill. The talking heads at HLN could learn a great deal from him. Gracious and well-spoken, Mr. Shaeffer has fairly and consistently commented on the Casey Anthony trial. Too often, people are not recognized for simply doing a job and doing it well. Mr Shaeffer has been a rare gem in the media circus that has accompanied this trial.

Order In the Court

Kudos to Judge Belvin Perry. Looks like there will FINALLY be a jury sworn in on Friday. The "Perry Plan" is working.
Casey spent the majority of Thursday with her face frozen in unpleasant lines. Casey's expression grew even nastier when one woman juror's voice broke as she described hearing of Caylee being found with duct tape wrapped around her head. Mother of the Year can't be bothered to shed a tear over her dead daughter, however.

One Long, Boring Morning
Casey Anthony in court this morning, Thursday, 5-12-11
Looks like someone on the defense read the blogs. Casey has either been instructed about her body language or given something to calm her down. There's very little hair-fiddling going on. She looks bored.
Pity poor Prospective Juror Number One. He has been on the stand for over two hours. The state dispatched with their questioning fairly quickly. Jose Baez has droned on...and on...and on.
Prior to taking a lunch recess, Judge Perry reminded the attorneys that there are still 36 more potential jurors to question, and that he intends to get through them today. In what appeared to be a veiled admonition to the defense attorneys, he reminded the attorneys that they are qualifying the potential jurors, not pre-trying the case.
It also appears that Baez has tipped his hand as to how the defense is going to approach the case. He grilled the first potential juror about how he would feel about hearing someone had been sexually abused, was a liar, a child dying by "accident", etc.
For the last week or so, there has been growing speculation that the defense was going to throw George Anthony under the bus, somehow implicating him in Caylee's death, and/or alleging that there was sexual abuse committed by George.
I'll say it again - I don't like either Cindy or George Anthony. Their behavior the summer Caylee disappeared was utterly repugnant. Despite the web of Casey's lies, I feel that George and Cindy are guilty of obstruction of justice, due to their antics the summer that Caylee disappeared. But I do NOT believe George or Cindy were in any way responsible for Caylee's death. Certainly, there was a mighty unhealthy Anthony family dynamic years before Caylee disappeared.
It's mind-numbing to watch Team Casey d-r-a-g the jury selection process out as they are doing. Worse to realize that the cold, soulless, Casey Anthony sits in the courtroom fully prepared to sacrifice her parents for a shot at her own freedom.
